Regardless of how abstract, lyrics can get the point across. They can let you know what emotion or feeling the band is trying to convey. Take the lyrics away and it's not so easy. You're on your own to decipher the song. Instrumentals are truly a lost art. Especially by bands that have a lead singer. Below are my Top 10 instrumentals. There is one for just about every moods. Yes, there are obvious ones I did not choose. Sorry "Moby Dick". These are the ones that meant the most to me.

My Top 10 Favorite Albums of 1986
1986 was a magical year for me. It was the year of Alternative an Punk discovery while still grounded in Metal and Hip-Hop. Some of my favorite albums of all time were released this year. Some are favorites for sentimental reasons. Regardless, it was a magical year for music in general.

My Top 10 Favorite Original Sountrack Songs of the 80's
The 80's were filled with Soundtrack hits. Kenny Loggins and Phil Collins were the Soundtrack Kings. I am not here to talk about them though. I am here to talk about the soundtracks that spoke to me. The songs that in many secretive ways were the soundtrack to my life. The songs that would play in my head as I walked through high school hallways and school dances. Music is an audible timeline. I can relate just about most life events with it. Music is my drug. But every now and then I take music for granted. At those moments it tends to turn my world upside down. It will hit me with something that I just didn't see coming and make me see things in a whole new way. It will get me to wonder if I ever really understood music in the first place. Music has the power to do that. It can change your life. These 5 albums did that to me.

My Top 10 Favorite Alternative Bands From the 80's
The 80's are a magical time for me. I started hitting my stride around 16 and that is when I discovered alternative and punk music. Then my life pretty much went into a tailspin. Aaaahhh...those were the days. Since I am feeling sentimental, let's go back and visit My Top 10 Alternative Bands from the 80's to see if we can relive the collapse.
